Obituary of Nancy L. Starkey

Nancy L. Starkey, 87, of Conneaut passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the Harrington Home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on September 26, 1929 in Ashtabula the daughter of Glen and Elizabeth (Amidon) Thompson.
Nancy graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1948. She was a member of the former East Conneaut United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. Nancy retired from the General Electric Base Plant, where she was a quality control inspector.
She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing for perch and camping along the Conneaut Creek. Nancy was a member of the Conneaut Fish and Game Club and enjoyed trap shooting at the range. She was a wonderful seamstress, quilter and enjoyed sewing and knitting. Nancy was passionate about helping others, serving on many missions, including helping during Hurricane Katrina.
Mrs. Starkey is survived by her children, Timothy J. (Sue) Starkey, Virginia M. Hatton and Cynthia L. Mummey; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her half-sisters, Donna (James) Fleming and Joyce (Chuck) Short.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Starkey; sister, Elizabeth "Ann" Moisio; and brothers, Glen Thompson, at birth and Richard Thompson.
Private family services will be held at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, with
Pastor Tim Kraus, officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Nancy may be given to the Harrington Home, 508 Williams St., Conneaut or the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Rd., Ashtabula.
