Obituary of Evelyn M. Hicks

Evelyn M. Hicks, 61, formerly a longtime resident of Conneaut, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at UH- Geauga Hospital. She had been a resident of Heather Hill Nursing Home for the past three years. Evelyn was born on January 26, 1954 in Conneaut, Ohio the daughter of Stephen J. and Charlotte (Eaton) Markijohn. She had been employed as a nurse's aid at the former Inn-Conneaut. Evelyn was a member of the 1st Assembly of God, where she was active with the church and women's ministries. She enjoyed playing bingo. Evelyn will be forever remembered as a kind and loving person, who would do anything for anyone. She was often lovingly called "Mom" by many. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tina Conjako; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Jean Markijohn; and her nephew, Brian Curtiss. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Eunice (James) Hogle of Conneaut, Amanda Hoyer and Ruth Anne Hoyer; grandchildren, Adam and Tyler; sister, Patti Rantamaki of Conneaut; brother, Steve Markijohn of Meadville; step-sisters, Joy (Guy) Hale and Noel (Tim) Anderson both of Mentor-on-lake; step-brother Ed (Cindi) Ireland, of Nashville, TN; and many distant relatives. A memorial service will be held, Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 345 Main St., with Pastor Tim Kraus, of Conneaut Church of Christ, officiating. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at 11 A.M.
