Obituary of Nicholas A. Hautala
Conneaut- Nicholas A. Hautala, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center after a brief illness.
Nick was born on August 21, 1941 in Conneaut the only child of Lee and Marie (Russell) Hautala. He graduated from Jefferson High School Class of 1959. Nick served honorably in the United States Army from 1960 until 1962.
Mr. Hautala was a 50-year member of the Laborer’s Union #245 and worked for many independent outfits, as well as Koski Construction. He was a member of the American Legion Cowle Post #151, Conneaut Moose Lodge #475, Conneaut Eagles Lodge #171; Conneaut Elks Lodge #256 and the West Springfield VFW Post #4965.
He is survived by his two daughters, Michelle Hart and Nichole (Eric) Gillespie; grandchildren, Connor and Brody Hart, Joe (Amie) Gillespie and Daniel and Meghan Gillespie; and a great-grandson, Eli Gillespie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 12 NOON at the Thompson Smith Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Rev. David Hines, officiating. A gathering of friends and family will take place at the funeral home on Saturday from 11AM until time of services at 12 Noon. He will be buried at Center Cemetery at a later date to be announced.
