Obituary of Elizabeth P. Gruey

Elizabeth P. Gruey, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. Betty was born on May 19, 1923 in Conneaut, Ohio the daughter of Peter and Mary Perkoski. She graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1941 and was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and attended, St. Mary Catholic Church. Betty had lived in Erie, Pennsylvania for over 40 years, where she also attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the American Legion Auxiliary. Betty and her husband, Jack, enjoyed refinishing furniture and spending time together with family and friends. Mrs. Gruey is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack J. Gruey; and her siblings, Tom Perkoski, John Perkoski, Anne Fields and Sophia Seager. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 744 Mill St., Conneaut, with Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Conneaut. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of services at 10 A.M.
