Obituary of James L. Tobias

Conneaut- James L. Tobias, 74, of Clay St., Conneaut passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Silver Sands Shared Residence, from Lewy Body Dementia.

He was born on October 16, 1943 in Conneaut the son of Dennis J. and Geraldine E. (Bossard) Tobias. Jim graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1963. He attended New Leaf United Methodist Church.

Mr. Tobias was the Shipping and Receiving Clerk at Hercules until their closing. He served at the projectionist and theater manager at the Conneaut Plaza Movie Theater from 1988 until his retirement in 2008.

Jim was a movie “buff” and loved going to the movies and traveling. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard and flowers, especially the roses. Jim enjoyed helping the neighbors, mowing and assisting the neighbor ladies with any of their projects.

Mr. Tobias is survived by his two sisters, Judith (Lew) Shiley and Sandra (Dick) Nelson; niece, Linda (George) Sabo; and dear cousins, Richard (Becky) Gaugh, Pam Grubke, Hattie (Dennis) Grubke-Barnard and Sarah Gaugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his dear aunt and uncle Eileen and Lyle Gaugh.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 at 1:00PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Rev. Jan Walsh, officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 2 from 5PM to 8PM.

Inurnment will take place at East Conneaut in a private ceremony.

Should friends desire memorials in his memory may be given to New Leaf United Methodist Church, 110 Gateway Ave., Conneaut, Ohio, 44030.
