Conneaut- Leilamae "Polly" Olsen, 84, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at her home.
She was born December 15, 1933 in West Springfield, Pennsylvania the daughter of Kenneth and Florence (Brown) Ruland. Polly graduated from Springfield Township High School Class of 1952 and would graduate from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts with her bachelor's degree. After graduation she taught briefly before marrying the love of her life, Thomas R. Olsen on October 12, 1957.
Mrs. Olsen was a member of the West Springfield Baptist Church, where she was very active. She was a wonderful cook, avid reader and enjoyed playing cards. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was always interested in their lives and enjoyed listening to their stories. She will be remembered for her hospitality and her door was always open to others.
Mrs. Olsen is survived by her five daughters, Robin (Sterling) Wheeler, Kirsten (Dave) Howard, Kendra (Christian) Ferm, Saundra (John) Castrilla and Darlene (John) Dohanic; grandchildren, Danny (Crystal) and Lynda (Jason), Jenny and MacKenzie, John Jr., and Jeremy, Jordan and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Andrea and Ryker; siblings, Nancy Walker, Marian Wheeler, Martha Forsythe, Paul (Barbara) Ruland, Clifford (Lynn) Ruland; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Ruland.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Thomas R. Olsen; and her siblings, Edward Ruland, Leslie Ruland, Ethel Zenk, David Ruland, Larry Ruland, Earl Ruland, Beth Adams and Bonnie Applebee.
Calling hours will be held, Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the West Springfield Baptist Church, 13695 Ridge Rd., W. (US Route 20), West Springfield, PA, 16443 from 11:00AM-1:00PM, where funeral services will follow at 1:00PM, with Rev. Andrew Shields and Pastor Joyce Shellhammer, officiating. Burial will follow at East Springfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial in memory of Polly may be given to Camp Judson, 398 Holliday Rd., North Springfield, PA, 16430.
