Obituary of James D. McAvoy
Pierpont- James D. McAvoy, 69, of OH- Route 167 passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 9, 2018 surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 14, 1948 in Richwood, West Virginia the son of Byrne W. and Mary L. (Phillips) McAvoy.
Jim was an over the road truck driver for many years, owning and operating his own truck and more recently worked for Taylor Lumber, before retiring. He was a true mechanic, many people called on him to repair their cars and fix many other things.
Jim enjoyed being at home and spending time with his family and friends. He was very social, knew many people and was always stopping to chat with someone while he was out and about. Jim enjoyed fishing, going to flea markets and yard sales and listening to blue grass music.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith L. (Perry) McAvoy; son, James D. (Sherri ) McAvoy; daughter, Shawna L. (Philip) Colton; sister, Mildred (Burton) Pack; brother, Jennings McAvoy; and his grandchildren, Kasey and Joleigh McAvoy and Moriah and Philip Colton, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Katherine Martin; brother, David McAvoy; and a grandson, Matthew Reynolds.
Calling hours will be held, Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Thompson Smith Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. A graveside service will be held, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10:00AM at Evergreen Cemetery, Cemetery Rd., Pierpont, where military honors will be performed.
