Obituary of Virginia L. Bort

Conneaut- Virginia L. Bort, 86, formerly of Amboy Rd., Conneaut passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.

She was born on July 2, 1932 in West Seneca, New York to Vernon and Lorraine (Otis) Brundage. Virginia graduated from the Conneaut High School with the Class of 1949 and went to work for the Astatic, Woolworth and the Silver Diner, where she met her future husband Maurice P. Bort. She was a devoted wife and mother of 15 children. She loved visiting and spending time with her children. Virginia also enjoyed reading, working in her flower gardens and playing bingo.

Mrs. Bort is survived by her sons, Dale (Margie), Lyle (Lydia), David (Melinda), William (Dawn), Phil (Paul), Edward (Dora), Bruce, Douglas, Gregory (Melissa); daughters, Eileen St. John, Darlene Adams, and Lynette Bort; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bort; sister, Romona (Wayne) Miller; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Maurice P. Bort; sons, Andy and Jeffrey Bort; daughter, Doreen Mathews; and her brothers, Leon, Kenneth, Ronald, Edward and John Brundage.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Rev. Joseph Laing of the Bethel Bible Church in Jefferson, Officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 5-8PM, and Saturday from 10AM until time of services at 11:00AM.
