Obituary of Clara Marie King

Conneaut- Clara Marie King, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at her daughter's home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 5, 1922 in Conneaut the daughter of William James and Oriean Viola (nee Kinsinger) Mooney. Clara graduated from the Conneaut High School Class of 1940. She was a faithful member of Corpus Christi Parish and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she enjoyed cleaning the priest home and preparing meals for them. Clara worked at the General Electric Base Plant until her retirement. She loved it most when her family gathered for the holiday's, reunion's or just to get together. Clara loved cooking and baking and was always willing to lend a hand for those many events. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. Clara is survived by her children, David R. King, Jeanne M. Turner and Kathleen I. (Thomas) Sorenson; brother, Carl Mooney; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jewell Mooney; many nieces and nephews; special niece, Lynnea O'Leary; and dear friends, Robin and Bruce Johnstone. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Kevin G. King; and her siblings, James, William, Gerald, Merlin and Irene Laidley. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 6PM-8PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Philip Miller on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11:00AM at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 744 Mill St., Conneaut. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Clara may be given to the Corpus Christi Parish, Hospice of the Western Reserve, St. Jude, or a charity of your choice.
