Dick, and the Searles family were so important to me growing up. Not blood, but just as much family. Dick drove me to Toledo, Ohio to get my first snowmobile. Invited me into his home in Ohio and Arizona and treated me like I was his second son. Showed me literally all the beauty of Arizona, and took me to Mexico, and Old forge snowmobiling in the Adirondacks in New York. Stuff I never would of got to experience. Dick always had a joke, and was a funny guy with a heart of gold. I don't think anyone could of not liked him. He was just that type of guy, and I'm blessed to of had him and his family be such a big part of my life. Love and remember you always.

My dad, Don Wright, was very close to Dick & his brother Dave. I think they met in the National Gard. Dad happily tells the story of when he lost his eye and the Searles twins took him south to see his Aunt Blanche - his mom’s twin sister - and his grandmother (Mamma) in York , SC. And then they went on to Florida to see Aunt Effie & Uncle CG. They had a riotous time as 19 year old boys would! He told me a few years ago that he was so grateful for them taking him on that trip. And he really valued their friendship. I remember in the 70’s Dick and Phyllis and little Dickie would stop to visit us on their snow mobiles. Dad and Dick would laugh and have a great time. My mom and Phyllis would laugh at them like they were kids. And they always were. One time Dick came on his sled when I was just out of college and let me ride it through our yard. Great fun! I live in Columbus now but at Christmas my daughter and I go to the Christmas Eve service. Dick was often there and would ask about Dad and Mom. And we’d laugh a lot about shared memories in the church foyer He was part of going home and going to my church on Christmas Eve. We will all miss Dick. Especially Dad.
