Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Conneaut- Shirley J. Gerren, passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, January 17, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. She was blessed to be independent and able to remain at home through the years.
She was born on July 29, 1925, in Conneaut, Ohio the middle child of Kenneth G. and Leona (Webster) Burdick. Shirley graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1943. She married the love of her life, Robert W. Gerren on August 12, 1950, even after his untimely death in 1984, she remained committed to him and missed him terribly. Through the years she was employed with the ration's office during World War II and later worked for the former Conneaut Savings and Loan. Shirley was very active with Lakeview United Methodist Church, where she was a part of the ladies aid, funeral luncheons, chicken and biscuit dinners, or sharing one of her delicious pies at church functions; more recently she reaffirmed her faith and was blessed to be baptized again. She was an avid bowler and could be found working the elections polls for many years.
After the death of her husband, she focused on creating scrap books of all things Conneaut and was very proud of these books, which will be donated to the Conneaut Historical Society and displayed for public viewing.
Shirley will be dearly missed by her daughters, Debra (Thomas) Mayberry and Sandra (Wesley) Camensky; brother, Dick (Ruth) Burdick; her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Grammie," Erica Wallace, Kristy (Ben) Airy, Thomas (Lisa) Mayberry, Darcy (John) Johnson, Ashley (Josh) O'Connell and Angellia Camensky; and many dear great-grandchildren.
