I knew Wayne as a high school student. He was a good friend to my brother Jim Grant. When Jim got sick and couldn't make the class reunion, Wayne got his whole church to pray for him. Wayne was a kind and generous person in high school. I am sure that blessing got amplified to all of the people around him. He and Jim can talk about all the fun they had in high school now. Words are inadequate to express the sorrow we fill and will continue to feel with him not around. Love and prayers to his family and friends.

Wayne I can’t thank you enough for the impact you made on my life growing up. I often referred to you as my “mentor” to others when asked about you. You touched so many lives and I don’t think anyone could’ve given thanked you enough especially myself. I don’t know if anyone knows this or if you told anyone but my senior year of high school was the worst year of my life I even contemplated suicide at times more times than I’d care to admit and a big part of why I’m here is because of you. Almost once a week you made an appoint to meet me in the church parking lot no matter how big or minut my problem was and treated it as if it was the most important thing in the world. I am so sorry I haven’t been around or got to say thank you. But just know things you’ve taught me and said have become a key part of the man I am today. You often referred to people as precious and the truth is Wayne you were the most precious of them all. If there ever was a living example of Gods love it was you. I’m so sorry I can’t be there in person this weekend but I’ll come visit you as soon as I can. Idk what Gods plan is from all of this and we may never know. But one thing I do know is I’m not the only person with a story like this regarding the impact you had, and I speak for all of us when I say a lot of us lost souls at the time we may have strayed from the path but you’re the one man all of us troubled teens have to thank for not staying too far from the Lord and our faith in Christ. Thank you Wayne for everything.
