Grew up next door to Ron (Yogi to me). I was 4 or 5 years younger than Ron and I followed him around like a dog! He was so amazingly patient with me...he taught me so many things. How to drive a tractor ( I loved the old Ford n his family own). He would have probably got in big trouble if his dad would have found out he let an 8 or 9 y/o drive it! Lol. Spent many hours helping Ronnie with chores...in the field; in the barn; in the summer; in the winter...year after year. Ronnie made a lasting impression in my life, in so many ways...he probably never even realized this... for that, I am so sad and upset at myself. I moved from Conneaut when I was young. Finally, when I retired, I moved back. I stopped by his farm the other day to tell him, sadly, I was too late. Ron taught me to have confidence in myself in many ways, but this one event made the biggest change in my life. I was being bullied by an older kids on our school bus... month after month it went on. One day after we got off the bus, he said "Why do you let him do that to you?" I replied, "he's older and bigger than I am." He said, " You are stronger than you think!" "Tomorrow stand up to him"... don't be afraid!" I listened to Yogi's words and did just that...I was never bullied again...to this day. God bless you Yogi. You died doing what you loved...may we all be so fortunate. Peace, love, and prayers to all his loved ones.

Ronny has always been a friend to my family. My dad (Ron Smith) was always welcomed with Ronnie and his family. My dad spent most free time with Ronnie and they were very close. He always welcomed my dad into his home and his life. My dad spent most holidays with Ron and his family. Whenever my dad was Ill it would be ron and his family that supported and helped my dad over come an obstacles.
Coming from out of state to visit my dad we would make sure that every morning we would spend having coffee with Ron. And even though he would only see me a couple times of year. He would always welcome me in and he would always take great interest in my life. He always would put other people first. He always welcomed people to his home. Ron was a devoted farmer and each day would be up early taking care of the animals and prepping for the day.
I can not say enough good things about Ron. He was always beyond good to my dad and I was always be so thankful for that
To Ronnie’s family. I am so sorry for your loss. But know he will always be with you

Ron and I were always kidding each other, never forget our New Year’s Eve resolution, for I think 1994-we both pledged to qui smoking. I did and thought Ron did too, until I would stop over to get hay and he would be hiding something behind his back. The one time I saw smoke drifting from behind his back and said Ron Hogle are you still smoking? He just smiled that smile and chuckled.
