Obituary of Marjorie Mara Emerson

Marjorie Emerson, Marjorie Mara Emerson, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2023 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. She was born in December of 1930 in Conneaut to Martha (Howard) Hazeltine. She met Richard Emerson and was drawn to his kind nature, his deep love for Jehovah and his good looks. She married her devoted husband, Richard in August of 1948 and enjoyed 64 years together. They learned early in their marriage to fully depend on Jehovah and each other to get through crushing trials, such as when they lost their firstborn, Mary Alice when she was less than two days old. They were determined that their children would learn from infancy to trust and love Jehovah. It was a great reward for them to see all their children, grandchildren, and their spouses embrace the privilege of full-time service both as pioneers and in Bethel service. She is survived by their children: Susan (Danny) Chodorski, Paul (Shelley) Emerson, Sarah (Gary) Hall, daughter-in-law Janet Emerson, granddaughter, Deborah (Timothy) Bihlajama, and sister Mabel Ellzey. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, her infant daughter Mary Alice, and more recently by her eldest son, Alan, and brother Russell Hazeltine. Her many, many friends in the Ashtabula and West Springfield Congregations will miss her warm smile, positive attitude and GIANT COOKIE JAR. The family wishes to thank all for their love and support over these many years. Especially, we thank Jehovah for the privilege of knowing such an excellent example of faith and are confident that we will see our dear mother and friend again soon. Services were held Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 4:00PM, at the Ashtabula Kingdom Hall, 3420 S. Ridge Road, W. (Route 84), Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004.
