JOHN MARTIN PAULSON, age 96, of Oakland, California, passed away Friday, August 08, 2014 with both his daughters at his side. Born September 11, 1917 in Conneaut, Ohio, he was the son of Frederick Paulson and Annetta (Thern) Paulson, and graduated from Conneaut Senior High School in 1935. John served as a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force and graduated from Ohio State University in1947 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. John was quoted saying, "I like people and I enjoy working. You could say that I am a charter member of the work ethic." The majority of his career was spent as a VP of manufacturing with General Electric and as a VP of Marketing for A.B. Dick Co. in Chicago. John was a voracious reader who loved to learn, study genealogy, play golf, and root for the Buckeyes. He loved to explore and at 79 became the oldest member of an over fifty hiking group to trek in Nepal at 15,000 feet. He married Janet Louise Armstrong in 1943, who preceded him in death, as did his son Derek. His survivors include his daughters Polly Paulson of Carmichael, California and Pamela Paulson of Berkeley, California and four loving grandchildren, Emma and Tessa Di Mantova, and Cyrus and Isabelle Beausang. His intelligent, generous and positive spirit will not be forgotten.
Graveside services will be held, Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Glenwood Cemetery, where American Legion Cowle Post #151, will honored their departed comrade. Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, is honored to assist the family.
