Obituary of Bonita Mae Yost

Bonita "Bonnie" Mae Yost, 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. She was born October 14, 1940, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of the late John Joseph and Philomen (Lamm) Tulino. A lifelong area resident, Bonnie graduated from St. John High School, Class of 1958. She worked for many years as a dispatcher for the Ashtabula County Sheriff's office. Among other things, she worked as the secretary to the Ashtabula City Manager, was a dispatcher for Geneva Police Department, secretary to the Ashtabula County Coroner, and was a funeral attendant at Ducro Funeral Services. Bonnie married Gary Yost on November 13, 1982. She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, and formerly, Sons of Italy, and Zonta. Bonnie enjoyed traveling, crocheting, and spending time with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed gambling and teaching her grandchildren card games. Bonnie was a true and loyal person. If you asked her a question you better be prepared for an honest answer; she told it like it was. She made everyone feel like part of her family. She will be greatly missed. Bonnie is survived by her husband Gary; children: Lisa Feaster, Michael (Michael Schrambeck) Simmen, Matthew (Celeste) Simmen, Jason (Erin) Yost, David Yost, and Megan (Gary) Franklin; sister, Lee (Ken) Neibauer; grandchildren: Nicole, Justin, and Philip Kline, Gianna Simmen, Winnie Yost, Ethan and Cameron Yost, Morgan, Riley, Kennedy, and Harper Franklin; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 3PM at Jefferson United Methodist Church, 125 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047. Visitation will take place from 1PM until the time of the service at 3PM. A celebration of her life will be held immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 125 E.
