West Chester- Lois L. Wheatley, 86, longtime resident of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 1, 2024, at UC West Chester Hospital surrounded by family. Lois was born on September 8, 1937, in Youngwood, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Alexander and Lois J. (nee: Wian) Rae. A 1955 graduate of Geneva High School, Lois was a devoted member of the New Leaf United Methodist Church and the former East Conneaut UMC. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Lyle Arthur Wheatley. Lois will be remembered for her volunteer work, her baking and crafting, and her donations to nonprofit organizations. Her memory will be cherished by her children: Kathleen (Steven) Miller; Nelson (Josi) Wheatley, Colleen (Kevin) Eyerly and Nathan (Catherine) Wheatley; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Paul) Splitt, Dr. Colleen (Ben) Hansen, Kevin Miller, Rebecca Sallade, and James Lyle Sallade; her two great granddaughters; and her siblings, Grace (Earle) Haffa, Janet (William) Craig and Bonnie (Tim) Buranzko. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00AM at Ridgeview Cemetery, 7205 Austinburg Rd., Ashtabula with Rev. Fr. John Keehner, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Faith Community United Methodist Church of Cincinnati, Ohio, 8230 Cox Rd., West Chester Twp., Ohio, 45069. Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 345 Main St., Conneaut, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements.
