Obituary of Frederick T. Bennett

ERIE, PA- Frederick T. Bennett, 67, of Conneaut, passed away, Friday, July 4, 2014, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center. He was born June 28, 1947, in Conneaut, the son of the late James C. and Vivian (Twining) Bennett and had been a lifelong area resident. Fred graduated from Conneaut High School, and went on study at Kent State University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in teaching. He married the love of his life Linda Burt on May 13, 1978. Fred taught for a few years at Lakeview Elementary School. He went on to become a Firefighter for Conneaut Station #1, and served our community until his retirement in 2002. As well as being a firefighter, Fred operated his own Land surveying company, and continued that after retirement. Fred was a member of the AERIE Eagles Lodge #408, American Legion Cowel Post #151, and the Conneaut Fish and Game Club. He loved fishing and spending time with his family. Mr. Bennett was a loving man, and treated everyone as if they were his family, he met no strangers, he will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years Linda, on December 28, 2010; his brothers, Floyd and Keith Bennett; and his parents. Fred leaves to cherish his memory his son, Neil (Laura) Bennett of Conneaut; his daughters, Lindsay (Mike) Bertolasio of Conneaut, and Susan Bennett-Smith of Kingman, KS; and his granddaughter Camryn Bennett. A Celebration of Fred's Life will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Amboy United Methodist Church, 554 W. Main Rd., with Pastor Mary Prior officiating.
