Obituary of James S. Kennedy

Monroe Township- James S. Kennedy, 73, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Louis Stokes VA Hospital.
He was born on October 14, 1949 and was adopted by his loving parents, Sherman W. and Marjorie S. (nee: Brown) Kennedy. Jim attended Conneaut High School, and enlisted in the US Army, where he served honorably during the Vietnam War, and received two bronze stars. He would later earn his GED.
Jim was a proud union brother, working as a heavy equipment operator for Local #18, and enjoyed building the Parrish Road overpass. He was also a member of the Pierpont Presbyterian Church. In his leisure time, he enjoyed woodworking, gunsmithing, hunting and fishing. Jim also He had fond memories of training dogs, while living in Spring, Texas. He also enjoyed farming in his younger years, working in his yard and simply staying busy.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (nee: Gehring) Kennedy whom he shared the past 30 years with; children, Ursula Kennedy, Tasha Stone and Jason Gehring; grandchildren, Hunter and Kaylee Stone and Avrianna Gehring.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Sherman and Marge Kennedy; son, Roger Bradley; grandson, River Stone; and a son-in-law, Patrick Stone.
Calling hours will be held, Friday, April 7, 2023 from 6PM-8PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut and Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the funeral home from 11:00AM until 12:00PM, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00PM, with Rev. Larry Carr, officiating. Burial will follow at Kelloggsville Cemetery, where miliary honors will be perform by American Legion Post #151.
